As the largest coalition of human trafficking experts in the United States, we are intimately familiar with the realities of this crime. The Trump Administration’s cynical manipulation of human trafficking as a political pawn in the government shutdown cannot stand. The fact is that his increased enforcement policies make people more vulnerable to human trafficking – not less.

A border wall will not stop traffickers. The government shutdown will harm trafficking victims.
