FNTI Housing Webinar Announced!

The Freedom Network Training Institute (FNTI) invites you to join a webinar on Understanding Housing Needs and Opportunities for Survivors of Human Trafficking. The webinar will focus on the importance of assessing the ongoing housing needs of survivors, as well as providing a high level understanding of the current housing landscape. This webinar is open to all professionals working in the anti-trafficking field and their partners. If the webinar reaches capacity, preference will be given to OVC grantees.

Learning Objectives: The goal of the webinar is to equip service providers with the information and tools to:

  • Understand the importance of assessing the housing needs of human trafficking survivors

  • Learn promising practices in housing assessments

  • Navigate the landscape of housing options for survivors of trafficking, including short-term, long-term, and transitional housing options

Presenters:

Maja Hasic, Anti-Trafficking Program Director, Tapestri

Maja Hasic serves as the Anti-Human Trafficking Program Director with Tapestri Inc., a non-profit social service agency that works with survivors of violence from the immigrant and refugee community.

Karlo Ng, Staff Attorney, National Housing Law Project

Karlo Ng is Supervising Attorney at the National Housing Law Project (NHLP) where she focuses on housing issues impacting survivors of domestic and sexual violence and trafficking; fair housing and civil rights, with a focus on the special needs and housing issues of immigrants and people with limited English proficiency.

Amy Smith, Human Trafficking Consultant, Subject Matter Expert

Amy Smith is a survivor of adult sex trafficking/ commercial sexual exploitation. Amy encountered multiple housing challenges during and following her exploitation. Even after escaping her first trafficker, Amy was unable to access housing services which left her vulnerable to further victimization. Amy has many insights into the housing process as a survivor, including missed opportunities in a domestic violence safehouse.
