JULY 17: United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations (216 Hart Senate Office Building)

 Washington, DC – On TUESDAY, July 17, 2012 at 9:30 am, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) presided over a hearing entitled, “The Next Ten Years in the Fight Against Human Trafficking:  Attacking the Problem with the Right Tools.” The hearing explored the major factors that enable the ongoing proliferation of trafficking, and probe solutions for some of the most difficult problems associated with trafficking.  It also allowed the Committee to establish the existing facts, determine where the greatest problems lie, discuss available tools to address the major challenges, and work toward a roadmap for the next ten years.

JULY 18: Briefing on Strengthening the Child Welfare Response to Trafficking (Congressional Visitor’s Center / CVC 268)

The Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth & The Victims’ Rights Caucus invites you to a bipartisan Capitol Hill briefing focused on Strengthening the Child Welfare Response to Trafficking on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 2:00 – 3:30 PM. Please join for a bipartisan briefing to learn more about: (1) Prevalence of trafficking within the domestic minor population, specifically foster youth; (2) Experiences of youth survivors of trafficking and child welfare agencies serving them; and (3) Policy recommendations that may help prevent and address this crisis.

 

JULY 19: House Briefing on Business Transparency (Rayburn House Office Building, B340)

The Alliance to End Slavey and Trafficking (ATEST) and Christian Brothers Investment Services, together with Rep. Maloney (D-NY), invite you to a breakfast briefing that will discuss how H.R. 2759, the “Business Transparency in Trafficking and Slavery Act,” will assist investors and consumers in making choices about which companies they want to do business with, in order to eliminate human trafficking, forced labor, slavery and the worst forms of child labor  throughout the world.

JULY 19: Senate Briefing on Business Transparency (Senate Side of the Capitol Visitor Center / SVC 202)

Join ATEST members for a bipartisan briefing hosted by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), with honorary co-host Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) to learn about demands from investors and consumers to be able to make choices about which companies they want to do business with in order to help eliminate human trafficking throughout the world.  And learn how some companies are responding.
